Lots of ships and vessels to tour

Have you ever wondered how ships refuel? Then tour bunkering vessel Vacamonte at this year’s Maritime Day. There will be action throughout the western end of Victoria Quay, inside historic B Shed and on the water. It will be a fun-filled day for all ages, with an emphasis on information about the port, the maritime industry and maritime careers.

  • Royal Australian Navy submarine HMAS Waller
  • Vacamonte bunkering (ship refuelling) vessel
  • 4 tugs from TAMS Group and Svitzer
  • Fremantle Ports’ emergency response boat
  • Harbour rides on South Metropolitan TAFE vessel

Free activities for children

  • Maritime dress-up competition: Dress up in anything nautical or marine like a pirate, mermaid, fish or sailor.
  • Face painting
  • Craft with artist Angela Rossen
  • Sea creature digital animation activity, WA Maritime Museum

Inside B Shed

  • Fremantle Ports’ Modern Working Port photographic display
  • 40 information booths in historic B Shed packed full of maritime-related exhibitions

  • Navy exhibits: Clearance dive team, engineering, knot tying, weapons and quad bike, health, Defence Force Recruiting, survival equipment, submarine escape and rescue centre, naval cadets
  • Australian Border Force: 640 Vessel, Forward Command Post truck, detained goods display, detector dogs
